Session 1 Module 1: Open communications are essential to effective team performance. The Shannon model will be discussed and the importance of listening skills are covered. Barriers to listening and how to overcome them are provided. Facilitating meetings to help them run more effectively by utilizing five special actions are covered in this module. Module 2: In order to build trust in meetings all members need to understand the personality traits of other members. How to re-act and inter-act with those traits are the focus of this module. Another aspect of building trust is understanding the goals of the other meeting attendees. How to uncover those goals, eliminate hidden agendas, and thereby build a stronger team is discussed. Group dynamics and conflict resolution principles are introduced as part of this module. Session 2 Module 3: The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV, v1.2) has an Integrated P roduct and Process Development (IPPD) addition that provides a systematic approach to product development that achieves a timely collaboration of relevant stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle to better satisfy customer needs. Added to Integrated Project Management (IPM) process area the addition covers the establishment of integrated teams that will carry out the objectives of the project and for Organizational Process Definition process area covers the establishment of organizational rules and guidelines that enable conducting work using integrated teams . What it means to the software organization and how it affects the structure of project teams is discussed. All of the salient issues involved in team coordination are covered . Module 4: When projects are run with groups cutting across various disciplines, there are a plethora of potential problems that will arise. The list of such problems is given, and potential solutions are provided. An exercise is part of this module which involves the attendees in a problem-ridden team. Participants have an opportunity at team problem resolution and presentation through chosen representatives. Session 3 Module 5: In order to enhance team effectiveness, there are various techniques available that will be covered in this module. Common barriers to team effectiveness are provided and techniques to overcome these barriers are given. There are a number of cases covering team effectiveness that will be discussed and interactively resolved with the attendees. The improvement cycle for teams is given as the completion of this module. Module 6: The team effectiveness needs to be viewed in relation to interdisciplinary considerations. This flows from the intergroup coordination issues covered in module 3. An exercise is provided to propose a number of problems associated with these interdisciplinary considerations within a team. Attendees will be grouped to represent different project disciplines and have the opportunity to represent their simulated conflicting views. Session 4 Module 7: The most popular implementation of a team on projects is the integrated product team (IPT) or integrated product development team (IPDT). The elements of IPTs are discussed and why they are so popular, especially with software-intensive projects. Most projects have multiple IPTs. The hierarchy and structure of multiple IPTs is given. A rationale for the structure is also provided. Module 8: Watts Humphrey has introduced the Team Software Process. This module discusses the benefits to be derived from the Team Software Process. A skeleton of the Team Software Process training endeavor is provided. This module covers major points of the Team Software Process; such as:
